Using external scanners

You can use a connected 2D barcode scanner which is connected via USB or BlueTooth to your laptop. Just put your cursor in a text box in the web app and scan the asset label of the Item or Kit to find it back easily.

Scanner support

Our web app supports USB / BlueTooth barcode scanners which:

  • Support HID mode since they simply emulate a keyboard.

  • Support 2D barcodes, if you want to scan our QR codes

  • Support 1D barcodes, if you only want to scan simple barcodes

Recommended scanners

You can choose any scanner that matches the requirements above, but we've had great results with these:

  • OPTICON - OPI-3301i
which is a Bluetooth connected scanner

  • OPTICON - OPI3601
which is an affordable USB connected scanner

How do I know if my scanner is supported?

You can try to scan directly to a text file to see if the code looks correct. If it's not correct, you may need to take a look at the country or language settings of your 2D scanner.
